Crime Rate Tendencies and Concertina Security Grilles in the fall of 2021
When it comes to the Covid 19 pandemic, although in many ways we have learned to live with it by now, we have been faced with many unpredictable turns and consequences in all areas of life, in the last couple of years now. We can therefore say that although it is difficult to predict anything for the coming autumn, there are a number of factors that we can consider based on past experiences. It certainly makes for an interesting discussion, so let’s see what we can expect in terms of home security this fall, against the backdrop of this long drawn out pandemic.
With over 25 years experience manufacturing concertina security grilles for homes and businesses, we have seen all types of domestic and commercial burglaries, so we tend to be on the more cautious and realist end of the spectrum in such discussions. We are seeing every day first hand, that everybody tends to think a burglary won’t happen to them, until it does. So here are a few thoughts that concern us for the next coming seasons.
Further job losses are inevitable in the economy unfortunately with furloughs ending in sight. All sorts of supply shortages continue to overshadow a number of businesses and entire industries. Whilst the upheaval of lorry drivers in only one side of the story, this has much more far reaching effect on a wide range of goods coming into the country, generally slowing everything down. In turn, prices are increasing. Building products is one of the worst hit industries, with everyone doing DIY during the pandemic it has forced supply problems, leading to considerable price increases. Christmas itself of course is another factor that is easy to predict what will happen and where shortages are most likely to impact businesses. All of these factors presumably further impact the economy, bringing more uncertainty, after an already unsteady few years.
In addition, there are all the other usual factors that are inherent at this time of the year. These include darker nights drawing in, with longer hours of darkness building up, and people leaving their homes for extended holidays. In view of these, crime rates are expected to increase by around 20% this fall and winter. Interestingly we can also mention here the price of gold, that remains steadily high, that burglars also actively look out for at times of uncertainty.
Concertina Security Grilles
Having been working in the security industry, and having seen a lot of burgled homes and businesses over the years, we firmly believe that our expandable security grilles are the best deterrent to stop any potential burglars entering a property. CCTV, burglar alarms, security lighting are all valid forms of upgrading security measures on a property. However the reality is, and drawing from our experience the only way to really stop any potential burglar is installing a physical barrier. We can attest however that door and window security grilles do not have to look unsightly. Safeguard Security sliding grilles are aesthetically pleasing, easy to operate, and when locked they do give the protection required.
Even without the added consequences of the pandemic, crime rates almost always see an increase during the winter months. The dark nights are on us and this is the time to start thinking about home security.
